Tropical Queensland Orchid Council Conference and Show The Tropical Queensland Orchid Council represents orchid societies from Mackay to Cairns in Queensland. Their annual conference and show is held annually over the Queen's Birthday weekend in towns and cities in the region on a rotation basis. This year it is being held in Townsville. Orchid and plant enthusiasts from all over Australia will gather to enter their best specimens in the competitive show, attend informative lectures, bus trip to local growers, purchase the latest plants and socialise. Members of the general public can view the best orchids, foliage plants and floral art in North Queensland at the show.

Australian Festival of Chamber Music Entering its twentieth year, the Australian Festival of Chamber Music (AFCM) is an international chamber music festival held over nine days each August in Townsville, North Queensland. Each year, the AFCM attracts between 25 and 30 chamber musicians from around the world, appearing in over 25 concerts performing 80 compositions along with 20 emerging artists. It is Australia’s largest festival dedicated to chamber music. Besides the core concert series, the AFCM has a number of other key components focusing on music, entertainment, education, community outreach and the environment. Some of these include the Winterschool masterclass education program; the Young Families Concert; the Reef Talk Program; the Outback Tour and the Chefs in the North Dinner.

Motoco Rv Dam Fine Rally The Motoco RV Dam Fine Rally is a CMCA Motorhome rally hosted by the Tropical Coast Wanderer's at Ross Dam Park Kelso Townsville. The rally attracts approximately 300 motorhomes from across Australia to meet and enjoy entertainment to make this one of North Queensland's Premier events on the Motorhome Calendar. Sunday is an open day for the public to come and enjoy the Lifestyle of the travelling Nomads with markets stalls and exhibitions.

Bead Glass and Craft Festival The Bead Glass and Craft Festival is the largest Bead Glass and Craft Festival to be seen in Australia. Enjoy nine days of classes with 22 Australian and American world renowned artists. There are 119 classes to choose from. There will also be three days of Monster markets with American Companies showing their products. With up to 100 market stalls, come along and find what you are looking for.

McDonalds Townsville Running Festival The festival provides a vehicle for the Townsville Road Runners to promote running to the wider community and it also provides local runners with a prestigious event in which to participant in at a local level. The festival covers six categories in races conducted over five kilometres, 10 kilometres, 21 kilometres, and the marathon over 42 kilometres. The underlying philosophy behind the festival is to ensure that Townsville continues to have its own Marathon. The Marathon and Half Marathon courses have been measured and certified as accurate. The Marathon is the only certified course outside of South-East Queensland. The courses are flat and scenic.

National Offshore Superboat Championships 2010 will see the fourth year in a row that Townsville has hosted the National Offshore Superboat Series. The AUD1 million superboats go head to head in the crystal clear waters of Cleveland Bay in front of Townsville's beautiful Strand. The superboats will visit the city the weekend before the V8's hit town creating a week of high octane excitement for locals and visitors. the national offshore superboat series event in Townsville is a free community event over the weekend of 3 and 4 July.

Suncorp North Queensland Games The Suncorp North Queensland Games will be held in the Townsville Region. Ranked as the largest regional multi-event sporting games in Australia, the North Queensland Sports Foundation initiated this biennial event in 1984. The Games continue to rotate between Townsville, Cairns, Mt Isa and Mackay and still attract thousands of competitors. Competitors have been drawn mainly from North Queensland with increasing support from Queensland country, Brisbane, interstate and overseas.

The Magnetic Island to Townsville Open Water Swim The Magnetic Island to Townsville swim has been held almost every year since 1954. Over the years, the who's who of Australian swimming and surf-lifesaving have competed in the race. Over the past 50 years, the event has grown to become a very iconic event unique to Townsville. The Magnetic Island to Townsville swim is the only open water swimming event of its kind north of Rockhampton. The swim encapsulates so much that is Townsville - the Island and reef, the beach, the sea.

Townsville PBR Troy Dunn International Troy Dunn is a legend of the sport and is Australia's only ever World Champion winning the title in 1998. He also won the PBR World Finals in 1995 and 1997. His own self-titled event, the PBR Troy Dunn International, has been staged in Townsville since 1999 and bull riders from around the world vie for an invitation to attend and to be crowned Champion.

V8 Supercars Townsville 400 North Queensland's largest sporting event, the Townsville 400, is a three-day event combining V8 Supercar racing, music and family entertainment. The 2009 inaugural event attracted 168,000 fans to witness some of the country's best racing and a huge concert showcasing leading Australian acts.
